L3C9 - application for EPA

Hi all,

Just to let you know that for those of you who are eligible and wish to apply for the EPA in February 2023, you can apply within the 'links' tab found at the top of this web page - look for the button below once inside:

Remember this EPA application page will be open for all level 3 candidates from the 1st February until the 28th February (it will open again later in the year in August for those who do not feel they will be ready to apply in February).

Click here for expected timelines of what will happen following submission of your EPA application in February.

Yes - you and your mentor need to make a decision in February to decide if your portfolio of evidence is ready for external assessment - you also need to ensure you have the training / competency experience for the observed practices (e.g. assist at a PM).

If you think you are ready for observation of your practices and also to have your portfolio of evidence reviewed then apply sometime in February - if not then wait until August.

I would recommend you only apply if your portfolio is completed (or almost completed). Once the EPA applications page closes at the end of February it will take approx. another 4 weeks for assessors to be allocated - use this time for final updates and tweaks to your portfolio ready for EPA's any time from 1st April onwards.

We [North Tees] will send an email introducing you (and your mentor) to your allocated external assessor around the end of march / beginning of April. This is the time we will also send your e-portfolio to the allocated external assessor.

The actual EPA date of assessment is then mutually agreed between both your mortuary and the the external assessor (the external assessor then leads the process) but all EPA's usually take place around April / May time.
